Mr Michael Vernik has been employed in the position of Marine Geophysicist / GeoSurveyor with Samicor’s Geological / Geophysical Dept since the start of operations in August 2003. Mr Vernik was employed on a fixed contract basis. The total term of his contract with Samicor extended over two years.

The scope of his duties included:
-Participation in the survey programme preparation
-Data acquisition (offshore)
-Data processing and interpretation (offshore and at the office)
-Direct involvement in survey vessel mobilisation /demobilisation

The recent projects (2005-2006) in which Michael took active part were:
-Survey in Hottentots bay, vicinity of Halifax Island, Mercury Island, Luderitz Bay, Hollamsbird Island.
-Mining and dredging support surveys.
-Interpretation of seismic, sidescan and swath bathymetry geophysical data for the Pomona and Bakers Bay concessions.
-Processing and interpretation of data for the exclusive prospecting licences.
-Compilation of final GIS projects

During his employment Mr Vernik has demonstrated his ability to learn fast, to make appropriate decisions and to take responsibility on every given task. He has exceptionally good computer skills and an above average understanding of mapping and GIS. Michael’s continuous efforts for the improve procedures, attention to detail and efforts to achieve the best possible results make him an asset to his employer. His friendliness, sincerity, openness and readiness to help are strong personal traits. He adapted well to the marine environment and duties at sea.
